
Mike Franklin
Exhibit Fabricator
Mike Franklin is the Exhibit Fabricator at the San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM). He is a California native with roots in San Bernardino County. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Colton and Fontana, he graduated from Bloomington High School in 2001 before enlisting in the Army as a weapons systems electrical technician in the Military Intelligence Corps. He served at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, Fort Huachuca in Arizona, and Camp Essayons in South Korea.
After his military service, he pursued work in sales and marketing and studies in graphic design at community colleges in Riverside and San Bernardino. For the past seven year, he worked as a union pipefitter and plumber, building on a foundation in construction.
He has a multicultural background—his father emigrated from England and his mother from the Philippines. He is the middle child of 3 boys and a husband and father to three daughters, ages 21, 10, and 4.
As a hands-on creator and lifelong learner, he enjoys wood and metal working, camping, dirt biking, hiking, playing guitar and piano, photography, videography, and tinkering with electronics.
Some of his interests include topics in physics and energy, geology, space, computing and robotics as well as the future technologies.
