About the Exhibition
This exhibit features work from Joshua Tree Highlands Artists Residency (JTHAR). They provide contemporary artists with the opportunity to focus on creating new work amidst the unique local context of Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave Desert. This famed desert landscape has lured and inspired painters and poets, musicians and mystics since the thirties—to say nothing of Native American art-makers centuries before. This exhibit features work from various artists who have participated in the Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency program.
The 15th anniversary exhibition can be comprehended as an encapsulation of the residency’s history and a tribute to the artists and their role in its success. In all, the thirty-five artists selected exemplify all of JTHAR’s alumni. In these videos, twenty-eight artists share their experience on who they are, how they became an artist and their residency with JTHAR.
