Across cultures and generations, quilts have told stories—of family, place, care, and connection.
For this month’s Second Saturday, children will create paper quilts, using shapes, colors, and patterns to design their own quilt-inspired artworks. Each paper square becomes a small story—unique on its own, yet part of a larger whole.
This hands-on activity encourages creativity, pattern recognition, and thoughtful making, while gently introducing the idea that our personal stories are connected to those around us. Just as quilts are built piece by piece, our shared story is shaped by many hands.
Second Saturdays offer a relaxed, welcoming space for families to create together, reflect, and engage with the museum in a way that feels both playful and meaningful—reminding visitors that their stories live here.
