About the Mycologist:
Briana Boaz fell in love with fungi while attending the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF).
She then completed a Master’s at UC Berkeley, researching plant ecology, mycology, and soil science. She studied the symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi of pine species such as invasive lodgepole pines in New Zealand and ancient bristlecone pines in the White Mountains of California (oldest living organism in the world!).
Briana is currently the Natural Resources Professor & Program Coordinator at Santa Rosa Junior College in Sonoma County. When not professing, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, and mushroom hunting.
