AVIS MARVELOUS: Ornithology on the Western Frontier Exhibition Opening

November 22, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Exciting News! Our new exhibition, “AVIS MARVELOUS: Ornithology on the Western Frontier,'” opens Friday, November 22 at 9am!
Step into a world where art and nature collide at AVIS MARVELOUS, an extraordinary exhibition curated by Lee Silliman.
Journey back to the 18th and 19th centuries when European and American explorers were documenting the natural history of the Western Hemisphere. Avian artists painstakingly created stunning bird art, which were transformed into prints for those who could afford them.
Witness over 50 historic engravings that offer a glimpse into the world of bird documentation and art in the North American West during this era. These exquisite images will be presented alongside their historic context, information about the various bird species depicted, and discussions on the status of these species today. AVIS MARVELOUS is your chance to travel through time and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of ornithology on the frontier. Don’t miss this opportunity to appreciate the beauty of birds and their importance in history.
