SUMMARY:STEAM Outdoors with Sprout and Blossom: Blue and Green Team
DESCRIPTION:April STEAM Outdoors: Plant Medicine\nIn April\, join Gloria from Sprout and Blossom in the STEAM Outdoor Classroom for a hands-on exploration of plants through the lens of the Blue Team and Green Team. Young learners and their families will discover how plants work together in ecosystems—above and below the soil—and how water\, sunlight\, and living systems stay in balance. \nA Hands-On Nature Program for Curious Young Learners \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.

SUMMARY:STEAM Saturdays: Museum Detectives
DESCRIPTION:April STEAM Saturdays: Museum Detectives\nSTEAM Saturdays invite families to join the Museum Education team in our STEAM Lab for simple\, hands-on activation activities designed especially for younger children. Each Saturday offers an engaging opportunity for children to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and math through play\, creativity\, and guided discovery. \nIn April\, we invite families to become Museum Detectives\, uncovering hidden clues and cracking secret messages through hands-on STEAM Lab activities. Throughout the month\, children can explore invisible ink\, create cipher wheels\, practice secret code spelling\, and even design their own secret codes. These activities are intentionally designed to support early learning\, strengthen problem-solving skills\, and spark curiosity about how people communicate\, record information\, and uncover meaning—encouraging observation\, critical thinking\, and discovery in an age-appropriate\, welcoming environment. \nSTEAM Lab Craft: Museum Detectives\n• April 4: Invisible Ink• April 11: Cipher Wheel• April 18: Secret Code Spelling• April 25: Create Your Own Secret Code \nSTEAM Lab activities take place during regular STEAM Lab hours and are included with general admission.

SUMMARY:Sensory Hours | Bugs\, Biodiversity Hall Bio Cart
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Hours | March 2026\nBugs | Biodiversity Hall\, Bio Cart\nWe’re bugging out! Join our educators in our Hall of Biodiversity as they facilitate our biology cart to learn more about our tiny friends\, insects! Visitors will have the chance to see one-a-kind displays of insects from our education collections and learn more about insect life cycles. The buggy fun continues with our companion insect craft. \nSensory Hours offer a calmer way to experience the San Bernardino County Museum. During this time\, lighting is softened and the museum environment is quieter to create a more comfortable\, low-sensory setting for visitors who prefer a gentler museum experience. \nSensory Hours are especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities\, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences\, but they are open to anyone who enjoys exploring the museum in a more relaxed atmosphere. \nEach month\, the museum’s education team hosts hands-on sensory activities in a different exhibit hall. These guided experiences may include tactile exploration\, art activities\, or opportunities to interact with natural materials connected to the museum’s collections. Activities vary each month and are designed to encourage curiosity\, discovery and playful learning in a supportive environment. \nAdmission:• $10 adults• $8 military or seniors• $7 students• $5 children ages 6–12• Free for children five and under• Museum Foundation members receive 50% off admission \nParking is free\, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.

SUMMARY:STEAM Saturdays: Love Birds
DESCRIPTION:STEAM Saturdays: Activation Activities for Young Children\nSTEAM Saturdays invite families to join the Museum Education team in our STEAM Lab for simple\, hands-on activation activities designed especially for younger children.
