SUMMARY:Cosmic Nights
DESCRIPTION:Our story is written in the stars. \nJoin us for Cosmic Nights\, an evening of quiet discovery where the night sky becomes a gateway to wonder. As the stars brighten our view\, we are gently reminded that we are part of a much larger story—one shaped by deep time\, curiosity\, and our enduring relationship with the universe. \nThis special evening program is presented in partnership with the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA)\, whose members will guide guests in observing celestial objects and sharing their knowledge of the night sky. Founded in 1958\, SBVAA is dedicated to introducing the community to astronomy\, supporting amateur astronomers in the San Bernardino Valley area\, and fostering excitement and lifelong learning about the cosmos. \nCosmic Nights takes place outdoors\, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Museum galleries will remain open throughout the evening\, offering opportunities for both stargazing and indoor exploration. \nAdmission:• $10 adults• $8 military or seniors• $7 students• $5 children ages 6–12• Free for children five and under• Museum Foundation members receive 50% off admission \nParking is free\, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. \nStep outside\, look up\, and reconnect with the vast story written above us—one star at a time.

SUMMARY:Sensory Hours | Kinetic Sand Play\, Earth Sciences Fossil Cart
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Hours | April 2026\nKinetic Sand Play | Hall of Earth Sciences\, Fossil Cart\nJoin our educators in our Hall of Earth Sciences first floor as they facilitate our Fossil Cart! Hold\, feel\, and look closely at real fossils and excavate some play fossils in our kinetic sand trays. \nSensory Hours offer a calmer way to experience the San Bernardino County Museum. During this time\, lighting is softened and the museum environment is quieter to create a more comfortable\, low-sensory setting for visitors who prefer a gentler museum experience. \nSensory Hours are especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities\, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences\, but they are open to anyone who enjoys exploring the museum in a more relaxed atmosphere. \nEach month\, the museum’s education team hosts hands-on sensory activities in a different exhibit hall. These guided experiences may include tactile exploration\, art activities\, or opportunities to interact with natural materials connected to the museum’s collections. Activities vary each month and are designed to encourage curiosity\, discovery and playful learning in a supportive environment. \nAdmission:• $10 adults• $8 military or seniors• $7 students• $5 children ages 6–12• Free for children five and under• Museum Foundation members receive 50% off admission \nParking is free\, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.

SUMMARY:Second Saturday: Seed Bombs
DESCRIPTION:This April\, Victor Valley Museum invites families to get hands-on with a simple\, nature-inspired craft that turns small actions into blooming results. \nDuring this Second Saturday program\, children will make seed bombs—homemade balls filled with poppy seeds that can be taken home and planted to grow a flower garden in minutes. This tactile activity introduces kids to planting\, growth\, and the idea that caring for the natural world can begin with something small. \nSeed bombs are a fun and approachable way for young visitors to connect with plants and observe how seeds transform over time. Families will leave with a creative project in hand and the excitement of watching something they made come to life. \nSecond Saturdays are relaxed\, drop-in programs designed for families to explore\, create\, and learn together in a welcoming museum setting.

Each Saturday offers an engaging opportunity for children to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and math through play\, creativity\, and guided discovery. \nIn March\, we celebrate A Bug’s Life in connection with Arthropalooza: Ultimate Bug Fest. Throughout the month\, children can enjoy bug-inspired crafts that introduce basic concepts about insects\, habitats\, and the small creatures that play an important role in our world. These activities are intentionally designed to support early learning\, spark curiosity about the natural sciences\, and encourage an appreciation for observation and exploration in an age-appropriate\, welcoming environment. \nSTEAM Saturdays also create meaningful moments for parents and caregivers to learn alongside their children—strengthening bonds while nurturing confidence\, curiosity\, and a love of discovery. By introducing STEAM concepts early\, we help children begin to see themselves as future scientists\, engineers\, artists\, mathematicians\, and problem-solvers. \nSTEAM Lab Craft: A Bug’s Life\n• March 7: Snail House• March 14: Leaf Bugs & Pipe Cleaner Flowers• March 21: Finger Puppet Bees• March 28: Flies \nSTEAM Lab activities take place during regular STEAM Lab hours and are included with general admission.

SUMMARY:Sensory Hours | Bugs\, Biodiversity Hall Bio Cart
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Hours | March 2026\nBugs | Biodiversity Hall\, Bio Cart\nWe’re bugging out! Join our educators in our Hall of Biodiversity as they facilitate our biology cart to learn more about our tiny friends\, insects! Visitors will have the chance to see one-a-kind displays of insects from our education collections and learn more about insect life cycles. The buggy fun continues with our companion insect craft.

SUMMARY:STEAM Outdoors with Sprout and Blossom: Microgreens
DESCRIPTION:January STEAM Outdoors: Microgreens\nDiscover how small beginnings lead to big impact in January’s STEAM Outdoors session. Children will explore microgreens—tiny plants packed with life and nutrients—while learning how food grows and how people cultivate plants to nourish themselves and their communities. Through hands-on activities\, young learners will see how care\, patience\, and growth shape the story of us\, from seed to table. \nA Hands-On Nature Program for Curious Young Learners \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.
