Please bring a change of clothes for your children.)\nJune 13: String Telephones\nJune 20: Rockets\nJune 27: Thaumatropes\n\nActivities take place across the STEAM Lab\, outdoor classroom\, and museum galleries\, creating space to move\, explore\, and engage from one moment to the next. \nSTEAM Lab Entry: \nTimed wristbands are required for STEAM Lab access and are available daily throughout the summer (June–August). Each wristband allows for a 30-minute session\, helping ensure a comfortable and engaging experience for all visitors. \nThis month is about freedom—of movement\, of thought\, and of play. During this time\, lighting is softened and the museum environment is quieter to create a more comfortable\, low-sensory setting for visitors who prefer a gentler museum experience. \nSensory Hours are especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities\, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences\, but they are open to anyone who enjoys exploring the museum in a more relaxed atmosphere. \nEach month\, the museum’s education team hosts hands-on sensory activities in a different exhibit hall. These guided experiences may include tactile exploration\, art activities\, or opportunities to interact with natural materials connected to the museum’s collections. DESCRIPTION:July STEAM Outdoors: Beach Life\nWhat can we learn from the shoreline? Join Gloria from Sprout and Blossom in the STEAM Outdoor Classroom for Beach Life\, a hands-on exploration designed for children and their families. \nIn this interactive session\, young learners will explore how life thrives where land meets water. \nThrough observation\, discussion\, and guided activities\, families will connect science and nature while building a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship. \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.

As the stars brighten our view\, we are gently reminded that we are part of a much larger story—one shaped by deep time\, curiosity\, and our enduring relationship with the universe. \nThis special evening program is presented in partnership with the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers (SBVAA)\, whose members will guide guests in observing celestial objects and sharing their knowledge of the night sky. Founded in 1958\, SBVAA is dedicated to introducing the community to astronomy\, supporting amateur astronomers in the San Bernardino Valley area\, and fostering excitement and lifelong learning about the cosmos. \nCosmic Nights takes place outdoors\, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Join Gloria from Sprout and Blossom in the STEAM Outdoor Classroom for a hands-on exploration of Fruits & Vegetables\, designed for children and their families. \nIn this engaging outdoor session\, young learners and their families will explore plant structures\, growing cycles\, and the science behind the foods we eat every day. \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission.
