DESCRIPTION:Hispanic Heritage Month is being celebrated at the San Bernardino County Museum\, Sep. 15 to Oct. 15\, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. with the exhibit “Latinos: Driving Prosperity\, Power\, and Progress in America.” The theme focuses on prosperity\, power\, and progress\, and recognizing the significant strides of Hispanics in the economic\, political\, and social growth of the U.S. Organized and curated in partnership with the Inland Empire Latino Art Association\, the exhibit features works by twenty-one local Inland Empire artists. Museum admission is free thanks to the support of Presenting Sponsor\, US Auctions\, and Bronze Sponsor\, Manny Serrano. Light refreshments and entertainment will be available.

The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.\n\nAbout the Mycologist:\nBriana Boaz fell in love with fungi while attending the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). She then completed a Master’s at UC Berkeley\, researching plant ecology\, mycology\, and soil science. She studied the symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi of pine species such as invasive lodgepole pines in New Zealand and ancient bristlecone pines in the White Mountains of California (oldest living organism in the world!). Briana is currently the Natural Resources Professor & Program Coordinator at Santa Rosa Junior College in Sonoma County. When not professing\, she enjoys hiking\, backpacking\, and mushroom hunting.

The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.\n\nThe Riverside Astronomical Society has a history of civic and educational support since its beginnings in 1957. The RAS owes its start to people who saw the need to promote a better awareness of astronomy to the general public. They also saw a need for a common forum for amateur astronomers to further develop and advance their hobby. These goals are still the cornerstone of the RAS’s mission.
