SUMMARY:Mahjong | Game Night at the Museum
DESCRIPTION:Mahjong Game Nights: A Living Tradition\nYou are cordially invited to a special afternoon of culture\, history\, and gameplay set within the Chinese Pioneers exhibition at the San Bernardino County Museum. \nBefore Mahjong became a staple of American game nights in the 1920s\, it journeyed across the Pacific in the hands of Chinese immigrants. As these pioneers built new lives in the American West—including here in the greater San Bernardino County region—they carried traditions that fostered connection\, memory\, and community. Mahjong became one of those bridges. \nToday\, that story continues. \nJoin us for a guided\, two-hour Mahjong experience led by Brenna Gibbs\, who will introduce the modern American style while honoring the game’s cultural origins and evolution. Whether you are completely new or looking to refresh your skills\, this session offers a welcoming and thoughtfully guided way to learn. \nWhat to Expect\nThis comprehensive beginner lesson will give you the confidence to sit down and play. Participants will learn:\nThe history and cultural significance of Mahjong\nHow to identify suits\, dragons\, and winds\nHow to read a Mahjong card\nBasic strategies for building a winning hand \nEvent Details\nLocation: San Bernardino County Museum\, Fisk Gallery \nDates & Times:\nMay 26\, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. \nEach session is two hours. \nCost: $60 per person \nIncludes museum admission\, expert instruction\, lesson materials\, and a temporary Mahjong card for use during the class. \nReserve Your Seat\nSpace is limited to ensure a personalized\, table-guided experience. Advance registration is required. \nTo secure your spot\, please RSVP and submit your registration fee. \nhttps://www.mrsmahjong.com/collections/lessons-parties \nCome explore the legacy of Chinese pioneers in our region—and leave with a new skill rooted in history\, connection\, and play.
