SUMMARY:STEAM Saturdays: Bug's Life
DESCRIPTION:March STEAM Saturdays: A Bug’s Life\nSTEAM Saturdays invite families to join the Museum Education team in our STEAM Lab for simple\, hands-on activation activities designed especially for younger children. Each Saturday offers an engaging opportunity for children to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and math through play\, creativity\, and guided discovery. \nIn March\, we celebrate A Bug’s Life in connection with Arthropalooza: Ultimate Bug Fest. Throughout the month\, children can enjoy bug-inspired crafts that introduce basic concepts about insects\, habitats\, and the small creatures that play an important role in our world. These activities are intentionally designed to support early learning\, spark curiosity about the natural sciences\, and encourage an appreciation for observation and exploration in an age-appropriate\, welcoming environment. \nSTEAM Saturdays also create meaningful moments for parents and caregivers to learn alongside their children—strengthening bonds while nurturing confidence\, curiosity\, and a love of discovery. By introducing STEAM concepts early\, we help children begin to see themselves as future scientists\, engineers\, artists\, mathematicians\, and problem-solvers. \nSTEAM Lab Craft: A Bug’s Life\n• March 7: Snail House• March 14: Leaf Bugs & Pipe Cleaner Flowers• March 21: Finger Puppet Bees• March 28: Flies \nSTEAM Lab activities take place during regular STEAM Lab hours and are included with general admission.

SUMMARY:Second Saturday: Bug Crafts
DESCRIPTION:Insects are some of the smallest inhabitants of our world\, yet they play some of the biggest roles in our shared ecosystem. This March\, Victor Valley Museum invites families to take a closer look at the fascinating world of bugs—just in time for Bug Fest. \nFor this month’s Second Saturday\, children will create bug-themed crafts\, inspired by the incredible diversity\, forms\, and behaviors of insects. From pollinators to decomposers\, insects help shape our environment and our history. This activity gently introduces the idea that even the smallest creatures are part of a much larger story—one we all share. \nSecond Saturdays are designed to be relaxed\, welcoming experiences where families can create together\, explore curiosity\, and connect with science and culture in meaningful ways—reminding visitors that their stories live here.

SUMMARY:Sensory Hours | Bugs\, Biodiversity Hall Bio Cart
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Hours | March 2026\nBugs | Biodiversity Hall\, Bio Cart\nWe’re bugging out! Join our educators in our Hall of Biodiversity as they facilitate our biology cart to learn more about our tiny friends\, insects! Visitors will have the chance to see one-a-kind displays of insects from our education collections and learn more about insect life cycles. The buggy fun continues with our companion insect craft. \nSensory Hours offer a calmer way to experience the San Bernardino County Museum. During this time\, lighting is softened and the museum environment is quieter to create a more comfortable\, low-sensory setting for visitors who prefer a gentler museum experience. \nSensory Hours are especially welcoming for individuals with sensory sensitivities\, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences\, but they are open to anyone who enjoys exploring the museum in a more relaxed atmosphere. \nEach month\, the museum’s education team hosts hands-on sensory activities in a different exhibit hall. These guided experiences may include tactile exploration\, art activities\, or opportunities to interact with natural materials connected to the museum’s collections. Activities vary each month and are designed to encourage curiosity\, discovery and playful learning in a supportive environment. \nAdmission:• $10 adults• $8 military or seniors• $7 students• $5 children ages 6–12• Free for children five and under• Museum members are free \nParking is free\, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.

SUMMARY:STEAM Outdoors with Sprout and Blossom: Plant Medicine
DESCRIPTION:March STEAM Outdoors: Plant Medicine\nIn March\, STEAM Outdoors explores plant medicine and the ways people have long turned to plants for healing and care. Children will learn how plants support well-being\, discover how knowledge of plant uses is passed down through generations\, and explore the connection between nature and health. Through hands-on learning\, this session highlights how understanding plants has shaped the story of us—rooted in observation\, tradition\, and respect for the natural world. \nA Hands-On Nature Program for Curious Young Learners \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.
