DESCRIPTION:Join us for Cosmic Nights with the High Desert Astronomical Society (HiDAS) featuring telescope viewing. The event takes place outdoors\, weather permitting\, and guests are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.\nMuseum galleries will be open during the event. General admission is $10 (adult)\, $8 (military or senior)\, $7 (student)\, and $5 (child ages 6 to 12). Children five and under are free. Museum Foundation members receive a 50% discount on admission. Parking is free. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.\nBased at the Luz Observatory in Apple Valley\, HiDAS was formed to provide trained\, volunteer astronomers to operate and maintain the Center’s astronomical equipment. The evenings feature telescope viewing\, an opportunity to discuss astronomy with the telescope operators\, and visitors are also encouraged to bring binoculars or set up their own telescopes.

DESCRIPTION:Come by in your costume to receive special treats plus have the opportunity to learn earthquake and emergency preparedness safety from our partners! From earthquakes to wildfires\, we want you to be prepared for any disaster situation. By participating in preparedness training programs and learning about emergency management\, we’ll help you stay one step ahead of any crisis situation. This free event offers residents the opportunity to learn how to prepare themselves\, their families\, their homes\, and their neighborhoods for wildfires\, earthquakes\, and other disasters. The day will also feature hands-on preparedness demonstrations\, expert speakers\, resources\, and emergency supplies at partner booths. We’ve partnered with many groups throughout the county that will be on hand to get you better prepared for any kind of disaster.\nThe event takes place outdoors in the Museum’s parking lot and is free to all attendees. When her best friend and neighbor runs off with her husband\, Claudia is forced to navigate the aftermath while her strong-willed mother\, Gloria\, unexpectedly moves in.
