DESCRIPTION:STEAM Summer | August 2026\nScientific Explorations\nSTEAM Summer in STEAM Lab\nEvery Saturday from 10–3 p.m. \nThis is a month for building\, shaping\, mixing\, and transforming—where children bring their ideas to life through hands-on art and design. \nJoin us Saturdays from 12–3 p.m. for a rotating series of creative experiences: \n\nAugust 1: Color Mixing\nAugust 8: Cyanotypes\nAugust 15: Clay Play\nAugust 22: Pop-Up Neighborhood\nAugust 29: Bead Snakes\n\nThroughout the month\, families can also take part in Scavenger Hunts every Saturday from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Complete a challenge and earn a prize while exploring the museum in new ways. \nSTEAM Lab Entry:\nTimed wristbands are required for STEAM Lab access and are available daily throughout the summer. Each wristband provides a 30-minute session\, supporting a comfortable and engaging creative environment. \nAugust is about expression—the freedom to make something from nothing\, to experiment without pressure\, and to leave with something uniquely your own. \nAdmission:• $10 adults• $8 military or seniors• $7 students• $5 children ages 6–12• Free for children five and under• Museum Foundation members receive 50% off admission \nParking is free\, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.

Join Gloria from Sprout and Blossom in the STEAM Outdoor Classroom for a hands-on exploration of Fruits & Vegetables\, designed for children and their families. \nIn this engaging outdoor session\, young learners and their families will explore plant structures\, growing cycles\, and the science behind the foods we eat every day. \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.
