SUMMARY:STEAM Saturdays: Love Birds
DESCRIPTION:STEAM Saturdays: Activation Activities for Young Children\nSTEAM Saturdays invite families to join the Museum Education team in our STEAM Lab for simple\, hands-on activation activities designed especially for younger children. Each Saturday offers an engaging opportunity for children to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and math through play\, creativity\, and guided discovery. \nThese activities are intentionally designed to support early learning\, spark curiosity about the scientific world\, and encourage an appreciation for STEM-centered learning in an age-appropriate and welcoming environment. STEAM Saturdays also create meaningful moments for parents and caregivers to learn alongside their children—strengthening bonds while nurturing confidence\, curiosity\, and a love of discovery. \nBy introducing STEAM concepts early\, we help children begin to see themselves as future scientists\, engineers\, artists\, mathematicians\, and problem-solvers—an important part of the story of us. \nFebruary Activation Activities: In celebration of National Bird Month\, STEAM Saturdays takes flight with a focus on birds. Activities feature owls\, bird life cycles\, puzzles\, books\, and creative kite-making.

SUMMARY:STEAM Outdoors with Sprout and Blossom: Stone Fruit
DESCRIPTION:February STEAM Outdoors: Stone Fruit\nThis month\, STEAM Outdoors explores stone fruit and the important role fruit trees play in our lives. Children will learn how fruits grow from blossoms to harvest and how people have cultivated and shared fruit for generations. Through hands-on discovery\, young learners will uncover how food connects us to the land\, to one another\, and to the story of us—rooted in care\, patience\, and seasonal change. \nA Hands-On Nature Program for Curious Young Learners \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.

SUMMARY:Second Saturday: Bug Crafts
DESCRIPTION:Insects are some of the smallest inhabitants of our world\, yet they play some of the biggest roles in our shared ecosystem. This March\, Victor Valley Museum invites families to take a closer look at the fascinating world of bugs—just in time for Bug Fest. \nFor this month’s Second Saturday\, children will create bug-themed crafts\, inspired by the incredible diversity\, forms\, and behaviors of insects. From pollinators to decomposers\, insects help shape our environment and our history. This activity gently introduces the idea that even the smallest creatures are part of a much larger story—one we all share. \nSecond Saturdays are designed to be relaxed\, welcoming experiences where families can create together\, explore curiosity\, and connect with science and culture in meaningful ways—reminding visitors that their stories live here.

Children will learn how plants support well-being\, discover how knowledge of plant uses is passed down through generations\, and explore the connection between nature and health. Through hands-on learning\, this session highlights how understanding plants has shaped the story of us—rooted in observation\, tradition\, and respect for the natural world.

SUMMARY:Second Saturday: Seed Bombs
DESCRIPTION:This April\, Victor Valley Museum invites families to get hands-on with a simple\, nature-inspired craft that turns small actions into blooming results. \nDuring this Second Saturday program\, children will make seed bombs—homemade balls filled with poppy seeds that can be taken home and planted to grow a flower garden in minutes. This tactile activity introduces kids to planting\, growth\, and the idea that caring for the natural world can begin with something small. \nSeed bombs are a fun and approachable way for young visitors to connect with plants and observe how seeds transform over time. Families will leave with a creative project in hand and the excitement of watching something they made come to life. \nSecond Saturdays are relaxed\, drop-in programs designed for families to explore\, create\, and learn together in a welcoming museum setting.
