DESCRIPTION:Learn more about the health benefits of mushrooms and why they are good for us. You will also have the opportunity to receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the new exhibit\, Mushrooms: Keys to the Kingdom Fungi.\n\nMuseum will be open\, regular admission applies. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.\n\nAbout the Mycologist:\nBriana Boaz fell in love with fungi while attending the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). She then completed a Master’s at UC Berkeley\, researching plant ecology\, mycology\, and soil science. She studied the symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi of pine species such as invasive lodgepole pines in New Zealand and ancient bristlecone pines in the White Mountains of California (oldest living organism in the world!). Briana is currently the Natural Resources Professor & Program Coordinator at Santa Rosa Junior College in Sonoma County. When not professing\, she enjoys hiking\, backpacking\, and mushroom hunting.

Victor Valley Museum and Arts Connection welcomes submissions from high desert artists and students for the upcoming High Desert Open Arts Exhibition from July 8 through October 8\, 2023. Students and artists can enter in multiple categories but are limited to one piece per category. Artists and students will need to submit one submission form per category. Categories include painting\, printmaking/graphic design\, drawing\, mixed media\, textile\, photography\, and sculpture.

The fundraising event supports the Museum’s mission of developing appreciation and sparking curiosity in regional cultural arts\, history\, and natural and earth sciences through exhibits and educational programming.\n\nThis year\, the lively event will be held in the outdoor courtyard of the San Bernardino County Museum where guests will be able to reconnect and engage in conversations celebrating the Museum’s service to county families and support for increasing the number of youth pursuing art and science education and careers. As in the past\, the event will include a social and silent auction of unique items including jewelry\, excursions\, and more.
