DESCRIPTION:May STEAM Saturdays: Fantastic Frogs\nSTEAM Saturdays invite families to join the Museum Education team in our STEAM Lab for simple\, hands-on activation activities designed especially for younger children. Each Saturday offers an engaging opportunity for children to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and math through play\, creativity\, and guided discovery. \nIn May\, STEAM Saturdays hop into Fantastic Frogs\, celebrating amphibians through simple\, hands-on STEAM Lab activities designed especially for young learners and their families. Throughout the month\, children can explore frogs and their habitats while creating\, building\, and learning through play. These activities support early learning\, encourage observation of the natural world\, and spark curiosity about life cycles and animal adaptations in a welcoming\, age-appropriate environment. \nSTEAM Lab Craft: Fantastic Frogs\n• May 2: Build a Frog• May 9: Origami Frogs• May 16: Handprint Frog• May 23: Frog Life Cycle• May 30: Folded Frog \nSTEAM Lab activities take place during regular STEAM Lab hours and are included with general admission.

DESCRIPTION:May STEAM Outdoors: Ladybug Life\nJoin Gloria from Sprout and Blossom in the STEAM Outdoor Classroom for a hands-on exploration of Ladybug Life. Designed for children and their families\, this engaging outdoor session introduces young learners to the fascinating life cycle of ladybugs and the important role these tiny insects play in healthy gardens. \nThrough observation\, guided activities\, and interactive discussion\, participants will learn how ladybugs grow from egg to adult and how they help protect plants by feeding on garden pests. This program encourages curiosity\, environmental awareness\, and an appreciation for the small but mighty creatures that support our ecosystems. \nSTEAM Outdoors invites children and families to step outside and explore the living world through hands-on learning and creative discovery. SBCM is excited to partner with Sprout and Blossom for this monthly program that connects science\, nature\, and art through lessons on gardening\, food systems\, insects\, and the beauty of the natural world. Each session encourages curiosity\, care for the Earth\, and an understanding of how people and nature are deeply connected—an essential chapter in the story of us. \nSTEAM Outdoors takes place once each month and is offered in two sessions: \n\n10:30–11:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m.\n\nParticipation is free with general museum admission. Space is limited to 20 children per session and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis.
